1Identify

  • GECA identifies existing standards that need reviewing
  • The review process and market needs are assessed

2Consult and draft

  • GECA sets up a technical advisory group (TAG) with licensees, industry experts and stakeholders in product category 
  • GECA and the TAG agree on aspects requiring revision and redraft the standard

3Public review

  • Draft standard is released for public comment
  • If you would like to be notified when a draft standard is released for public comment, please sign up to our eNewsletter  to the right of this page
  • GECA and TAG consider submissions and recommend any changes

4Release

  • The updated standard is released
  • Updated standards supersede previous standards in that category. Previous versions become closed to new applications for certification
