The GEN AGM
With enhancing the value of the GECA ecolabel in mind, our chair, Gordon Renouf, attended the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN) Annual General Meeting and conference week in Hong Kong during November 2015. This was a great opportunity for GECA to make better connections with other ecolabels around the world and to explore recent developments with labelling schemes, particularly in regards to managing our carbon footprint.

GECA is pleased to welcome our newest licensee, cleaning solutions manufacturer Anotec Environmental. The company, which has been in the industry for 25 years, specialises in odour control products with a lower environmental, health and social impact.
Case study: A safe school for chemically-sensitive students
Hughes Primary School, ACT, was faced with the challenge of finding ways to create a safe and inclusive environment for students with chemical sensitivities. Where previous schools had been unwilling to alter their whole-school practices to cater for these students, Hughes Primary, with their focus on sustainability, was ready to try after hearing parents’ concerns.

How can procurement professionals know exactly what constitutes sustainable or “green” procurement? Without a background in sustainable purchasing or a solid working knowledge of the surrounding issues, it can be challenging to know what sort of criteria to include in a policy document, or which products and services meet those criteria.
