1.
Description of the
Technology.
Tarkett Commercial is designing, manufacturing and distributing
floor covering solutions for professionals, architects, specifiers and distributors all over the world.

2. The Products
VisionNova is environmentally compatible and made of Novomer™ – a breakthrough flooring material that is a blend of rubber, ionomer and silicone materials. While maintaining similar properties to rubber, such as fire resistance, good walking comfort and light weight for easy handling and installation, this exclusive formula adds benefits such as scratch, stain, wear and tear resistance.

3.1 Fitness for
Purpose
Certified products should be good performers in their intended
application. Certain standards of product performance are
implicit in the label.
|
The VisionNova product range is
made of Novome TM a blend of rubber, Ionomer and Silicone
materials. The product is covered by a 12 year minimum warranty
with an expected life span of between 25-30 years. The
VisionNova range is manufactured by Tarkett in their Swedish
Ronneby facility. The factory is certified to ISO 9001:200,
issued by DNV, certificate number 2000-SKM-AQ-886.the product
has been tested against a large array of European Standards.

3.2 Requirements for Wood and
Other Natural Products
|
The VisionNova product range does
not contain any timber, this criterion is therefore not
applicable to this assessment.

3.3 Hazardous Substances
|
In order to further establish the
proper binding of the toxic ingredients during production GECS
sought emission test results to confirm compliance to the
requirements of the criterion. Results demonstrated that no
carcinogenic substances were traceable after 3 days and 28 days.
Total Voc emissions after 3 days were below the limit of 10.000
ug/m3 and after 28 days below 1.000 up/m3.

3.4 Formaldehyde content and
formaldehyde emitting additives
Floors containing additives with formaldehyde content or
formaldehyde-emitting substances must be within certain limits
for free formaldehyde or formaldehyde emissions
|
Formaldehyde is not directly
incorporated into the products, A TVOC emission test report
returned very low figures of 1µg/mł. TVOC test includes
Formaldehyde, it is clear therefore that the products are
compliant to the requirements of this criterion
|
3.5 Waste Minimisation and
Management
a) The manufacturing process must include processes to
minimise waste through recovery and reuse or reprocessing and/or
use of waste for energy. b) The product must be designed in such
a way that it can be safely processed after use by means of
normal methods available in the market in which it will be used
and disposed (e.g. re-use, recycling/reprocessing and/or safe
disposal).

Following a site assessment of the
Tarkett Ronnerby manufacturing facility GECS is satisfied all
waste is reincorporated into the production process, very little
waste is created in the manufacturing process.

3.6 Product Information
The floor covering product must be accompanied by certain
information for product suppliers, installers and consumers
|
A review of the Tarkett
Installation instructions and the cleaning and maintenance
instructions establishes full compliance to the different
requirements of this criterion.

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the Tarkett range to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations.
