Description of the
Technology.
Seatmatic Pty Ltd was established in 1996. The company has over 20 years experience and technical knowledge in the commercial seating industry. The mission of the company is to deliver complete life-cycle product compliance.
Seatmatic has a cooperative partnership with its supplier for laminated plywood products. Materials used for their production come from a sustainably managed and fully FSC certified forest.
2. The Products
Mesh Chair: The Mesh Chair is a Nylon based chair with reduced environmental load due to its environmentally preferable product components.

Fitness For Purpose |
Seatmatic has provided
documentation outlining the quality assurance of the Mesh Chair.
The chair is quality tested at level 6 and has been issued AFRDI
certification. The manufacturer of the Mesh Chair has been ISO
9001:2000 accredited. The Mesh Chair has a 5 year warranty. |

Plastics -Resin identification
Codes |
A site audit of the manufacturing
facility has found the resin codes are displayed on the seat,
base and wheels of the chair. |

Fabrics |
Chairs may only be sold as fully
certified when upholstered with Environmental Choice Australia,
EU Flower or Nordic Swan certified fabrics. |

Hazardous Materials |
An ingredients list for the entire
content of the Mesh Chair has been supplied to GECS. No cleaning
agents are used in the manufacture of the Mesh Chair. MSDS and
testing reports have been supplied and results indicate no
detection of the mentioned hazardous substances described in
this criterion. |

Prohibited Substances |
An ingredients list for all
components and production materials has been supplied to GECS.
MSDS for the Powder Coat and black paint used to manufacture the
Mesh Chair have been supplied and found to contain none of the
substances described in this section of the standard. Testing
reports have been supplied and results indicate no detection of
the mentioned hazardous substances described in this criterion. |

Separability |
Separability of the mesh chair was
confirmed during the site inspection. |
|
Product Custodianship |
GECS has received confirmation
that Seatmatic are involved in a program to recycle plastic
chair products. The polypropylene, nylon and polyethylene are
recycled back into other components. GECS has confirmed the
removal of scrap metals and hazardous materials to be recycled
or disposed of at licensed waste disposal sites. |

Coatings/ Treatments |
A site visit has confirmed that no
coatings or treatments prevent the recycling of the product at
the end of the product’s life. |

Replacement Parts |
GECS has received a statement that
the Mesh Chair is supported by a 5 year warranty on component
parts. |
|
Recycled Furniture |
The only recycled parts are the
polypropylene, nylon and polyethylene components which are used
in the Mesh Chair. |

Packaging Requirements |
A statement from the President of
the manufacturing company has confirmed that the only packaging
used is cardboard boxes and Bubble wrap made of polyethylene. An
MSDS has been supplied to GECS for polyethylene. All packaging
is recyclable and non-halogenated. |

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the Seatmatic range to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations.
