Description of the
Technology.
Resene Paints Limited is New Zealand's largest privately-owned and operated paint manufacturing company with its head office located in Lower Hutt. The company, established in 1946, is today an international company with manufacturing operations in Australia and Fiji and local production plants in Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and Auckland. Resene are manufacturers of colours, coatings, wood stains and paints for exterior and interior house painting plus commercial, industrial and marine painting applications.

Fitness for Purpose |
Resene Paints are currently ISO
9001:2000 accredited by NCSI, confirming compliance to the
requirements of quality management systems. In addition an APAS
certificate has been issued to Resene Paints as a recognised
manufacturer of paint suitable for the Australian market. |

VOC Levels |
Resene Paints have submitted VOC
test results based on calculation methods by the APAS. Each of
the nominated products meets the requirements for this
criterion. |

Titanium Dioxide Content |
Test results prove that none of
the nominated Resene Paints products exceeds the limit of 40g/m2
dry film of titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as stated in the
requirements for this criterion. |

Glycol Ethers |
A GECS analysis of the compounds
used in the manufacturing of these nominated products revealed
that none of the restricted glycol ethers are present. These
products meet the requirements of this criterion. |

Heavy Metals |
A GECS analysis of the compounds
used in the manufacturing of these nominated products revealed
that none of the restricted heavy metals are present. |
|
Packaging |
These Resene products are packaged
in either plastic or steel containers both of which are
recyclable. The plastic containers are made of HDPE and are
accompanied with a resin code. |

Carcinogenic Substances |
A GECS analysis of the compounds
used in the manufacturing of these nominated products revealed
that none of the restricted carcinogenic substances are present. |
|
Restricted Substances |
A GECS analysis of the compounds
used in the manufacturing of these nominated products revealed
that no alkyl phenol alkoxylate is present. |

Use of Ozonedepleting Substances
in Industrial Solvents and Cleaning Agents |
A GECS analysis of the compounds
used in the manufacturing of these nominated products revealed
that none of the listed ozone depleting substances are present. |

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the Resene Paints range to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations in the past 24
months.
