     1.   Description of the Technology.

Recycling technology takes on a whole new twist with Regupol. Regupol is a hard wearing, resilient and resistant material that is used to manufacture a variety of products. It starts with carefully shredded and cleaned post-consumer tire rubber. Using a unique manufacturing process, Regupol combines this raw material with custom-formulated polymeric binders, free of environmentally hazardous materials, to produce rubber in sheets, rolls and molded forms. With technology and equipment developed over 40 years, Regupol is blended and formed to create a broad range of products which meet and exceed standards in industrial, transportation and construction markets.

Regupol out performs conventional rubber in its combined performance of durability, resilience, co-efficient of friction, easy handling and maintenance. Today Regupol stands out as the only innovative and environmentally-friendly rubber choice across most industries and applications.      2. The Products

Regupol - Everlast Rubber Flooring or Everroll Rubber Flooring:

Everlast offers the durability of rubber at the price and comfort of high quality carpet. Available in five standard colours and solid black, Everlast also gives designers flexibility to formulate custom colours (with minimum of 600 square metre order requirements). Everlast is highly abrasion resistant, guaranteeing a long service life even under extreme conditions.

Everroll is a quality manufactured recycled rubber flooring, which is tough and durable. Everroll is manufactured from post-consumer tyre rubber and post industrial EPDM rubber. Everoll also has Environmental Health and Safety characteristics such as slip resistant and noise absorption attributes.

Regupol - Rubber Granite Flooring: Rubber Granite is different from other products in its solid composition of premium quality coloured foam rubber. Also unique to Rubber EPDM Granite is its high degree of resilience and durability suitable to retail fitout and swimming pool surrounds/leisure facilities. Rubber granite flooring is also soft and quiet for walking on with minimal temperature reaction to changing weather allowing comfortable contact with skin. Working closely with Regupol, architects and designers looking for innovative flooring solutions can also create their own colour combinations with Rubber Granite.

Regupol - Acoustic Underlay 6010, 6015 and 6010BA: Providing quality prefabricated acoustic underlays to builders, owners, developers is Regupol ( Australia ) Pty Limited. Regupol supplies standard and custom made acoustic underlays providing customers with standards of impact sound reductions for hard floors.

Regupol - 4515 Acoustic Underlay: Good impact sound insulation and correct flanking protection should be an essential aspect in the design and construction of any building. The decision to provide sufficient impact sound insulation is very personal and although Regupol impact sound underlays surpass the required standards there is a definate need for owners to select from our range of standard to high performance products.

Regupol - K225 Acoustic Underlay: With the ever increasing demand for hard floor surfaces such as parquetry, strip timber, ceramics, marble, stone and granite comes the need to provide sufficient impact sound isolation

Environmental Requirements

Core Environmental Performance Characteristics
Fitness for Purpose Certified products should be good performers in their intended application. It is implied that certain standards of product performance are implicit in the label. The Regupol products are manufactured in Germany by BSW and consist of recycled rubber and polyurethane. GECS has reviewed an ISO 9001:2000 for quality control at the manufacturing site, the certificate was issued by TUV Cert, Certificate number 061291, Expiry 10.11.09. The products are AS/ANZ 5586:1999 certified (slip resistance, flooring products) by CSIRO. GECS has received warranty statements for Regupol recycled rubber impact sound acoustic underlays which lasts seven years and Regupol Everlast, rubber granite and rubber pavers which last five years.
Controversial Sources
Wood and other natural materials from sources that are not certified under a recognised certification scheme (e.g. FSC or AFS) as being sustainable managed shall not originate from certain sources
Regupol 4515 contains less the 10% of post consumer wine cork, this component of the product is exempt from the requirements of this criterion.
Hazardous Substances The Regupol products Everlast Rubber Flooring and Rubber Granite Flooring, Acoustic Underlay 6010, 6015, 6010BA, 4515 Acoustic Underlay, K225 Acoustic Underlay are non hazardous to humans and therefore meet the requirements of this criterion.
Formaldehyde content and formaldehyde emitting additives Floors containing additives with formaldehyde content or formaldehyde-emitting substances must fulfill one of the following requirements: a) Control of formaldehyde from the finished floor. b) Control of formaldehyde during the production of panels for the floor. Test results for the Regupol 3mm Rubber Granite and the Regupol 4mm Everlast show results of 0.01 mg/mē/hr and 0.015 mg/mē/hr respectably. These results are very low, the test was undertaken by CETEC, test report CV071002, 16th October 2007. The Regupol product range, subject of this report, meets the requirements of this criterion.
Waste Minimisation and Management
a) The manufacturing process must include processes to minimise waste through recovery and reuse or reprocessing and/or use of waste for energy. b) The product must be designed in such a way that it can be safely processed after use by means of normal methods available in the market in which it will be used and disposed (e.g. re-use, recycling/reprocessing and/or safe disposal).
The manufacturing process of the products produces very little waste, all waste involved in the cutting and sanding of the product is incorporated back into the raw material flow. There is no apparent technical barrier for the re use of the materials at the end of the products life. Regupol Australia have implement a take back policy, products are sent back to the manufacturer and incorporated back into production.
Product Information The floor covering products must be accompanied by information for product suppliers, installers and consumers The Regupol product range, subject of this report, meets the requirements of this criterion.
Compliance to Environmental Regulations
The applicant is required to comply with relevant environmental legislation and government orders at the Local, State and Commonwealth level, if these have been issued. An applicants compliance with this criteria may be established by undertaking a series of random checks and gathering samples of applicant operational procedures and documents by approved assessors as evidence to support compliance during the verification and /or a statement of self declaration by an executive officer of the applicant organisation.
GECs has received a copy of the ISO 14001:2004 certificate which shows certification until 2009. GECS has also been provided previous ISO 14001:2004 which expired in 2006 showing a long lived compliance to environmental regulations.

Compliance to Labour, Anti-Discrimination & Safety Regulations An applicant shall demonstrate that all employees are covered by a Federal or State award or a certified industrial agreement or a registered workplace agreement as determined by the Industrial Relations Commission, the Employment Advocate or a State or Territory Workplace Relations Agency. GECS has received an OHSAS 18001:1999 certificate which is valid until 2009 showing compliance to safety regulations. Regupol's manufacturing site in Germany, subject of this report, meets the requirements of this criterion.

        3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:

 

GECA also found the Regupol range to be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour, Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety regulations and environmental regulations.
