Environmental Requirements

Core Environmental Performance Characteristics
Fitness for Purpose CSR have real-time internal quality assessment testing and periodic external testing. The products are sold with a standard market guarantee that includes a replacement policy if products sold do not meet CSR’s performance standards. The Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™ is tested in accordance with Australian Standards for durability and fire resistance and meets the relevant requirements of each.
Paper Processing The paper face of the plasterboard is 100% recycled and is unbleached. Biodegradability of laminated paper forms an exception under this criterion.
Additives No additives restricted under this criterion are used in the manufacture of Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™ plasterboard.
Gypsum CSR has a policy to procure raw natural gypsum. The supply chain for raw gypsum has been established. Periodic tests are conducted to confirm levels of required purity. These tests indicate that CSR is committed to the ongoing procurement of natural raw gypsum for the manufacture of Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™.
Adhesives The hazardous or prohibited materials listed in GECA 01-2007 Adhesives Standard are not contained in the adhesives used to manufacture CSR Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™.
Hazardous Substances None of the hazardous or prohibited substances listed in this section of the Standard are intentionally added during the production of Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™.
Gypsum and other Minerals The recycled content of Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™ is above the minimum requirement set in this criterion.
Waste Minimisation CSR has suitable waste minimisation policies and procedures in existence in the core company documentation. These policies support the objectives of this criterion. CSR is currently commissioning a new recycling plant to further invest in the waste minimisation of their Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™ production facility.
Product Custodianship CSR Gyprock EC08™ is delivered with a standard product take back offer. The capacity of CSR to enact this policy is established through the evidence related to waste reduction. The evidence is sufficient to indicate CSR has policies and procedures in place to divert Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™ plasterboard from landfill.
Packaging Requirements The polyethylene film used as packaging is not chlorinated or halogenated. The packaging used for Gyprock EC08™ and EC09™ is recyclable in mainstream resource recovery facilities.
Product Information The product information supplied by CSR is in accordance with this criterion. The product custodianship offer is to be placed on the CSR Gyprock website.
Compliance to Environmental Regulations CSR has one incident of non-compliance to environmental regulations, which occurred in 2006. This incident and corrective actions have been fully documented and are in accordance with the requirements of this criterion.
Compliance to Labour, Antidiscrimination and Safety Regulations GECS has reviewed documentation as evidence for CSR’s conformance to this criterion. The document evidence has established that the company’s employees are treated in accordance to the relevant jurisdictions OH&S and employment regulations.
