Description of the
Technology.
CSA Pty Ltd was founded in 2000, and have since grown to staff over 50 employees based in two states. The semi-automated manufacturing facility is based at Yatala in Brisbane Queensland, housed in a 3,500 m2 under roof site. CSA Pty Ltd employ their own delivery team and all manufacturing and installation is performed by an in-house crew. The company currently produces approximately 100,000 furniture items every year, and with improvement processes in place are looking to increase the production in the future.

Partitions: Including 70mm Tile, 50mm Tile & 35mm Tile
Loose Furniture: Including Boardroom table, Bookcases, Corner units and Storage systems.

Fitness for Purpose |
The certified CSA products have
demonstrated fitness for purpose, the range of furniture and
partitions are covered by a five year warranty. CSA Pty Ltd have
an internal quality assurance program to ensure products are
assessed for conformance to quality and environmental aspects
prior to dispatch. |

Material Requirements |
The timber used in the CSA
products is sourced from sustainably managed forest operations
and the chain of custody is managed and documented
appropriately. |

Treatment |
The timber materials used by CSA
Pty Ltd in the certified products are sourced from a company
already certified under the Environmental Choice Australia Mark.
The wood components are not treated of impregnated with
fungicides or pesticides. |

Air Emissions |
The timber materials used by CSA
Pty Ltd in the certified products are sourced from a company
already certified under the Environmental Choice Australia Mark.
The timber components do not exceed the limit set for
formaldehyde emissions in this criterion of the furniture and
fittings standard. |

Resin Identification Codes |
Plastic components from the
Sustainable Solutions range above 100g are marked with the
relevant resin identification codes. |

Polyurethane Padding Requirements |
Foam padding used in certified
Sustainable Solutions range is already certified under the
Environmental Choice Australia Mark, and therefore meet the
requirements of the GECA Furniture and Fittings Standard. |

Fabrics |
CSA Pty Ltd source fabrics
certified under the Environmental Choice Australia Mark. CSA Pty
Ltd has confirmed that the certified range will feature only
textiles certified under the Environmental Choice Australia
Mark. |

Glass |
Glass used by CSA Pty Ltd in the
certified Sustainable Solutions range is a clear float glass. It
has been confirmed that the glass is not treated or impregnated
in a manner that does not conform to this criterion. |

Adhesives |
The adhesive used in the certified
Sustainable Solutions range of furniture is a hot-melt product
used for edgebanding that is acceptable according to the
requirements of the GECA Adhesives Standard. |

Hazardous and Prohibited Materials |
A review of the material flows for
the manufacture of the certified Sustainable Solutions range of
furniture revealed items of non-conformance regarding hazardous
materials use. CSA Pty Ltd has indicated these substances will
no longer be used in the manufacture of certified products. |

Separability |
The CSA Pty Ltd certified
Sustainable Solutions range of furniture is easily disassembled
into constituent materials without the aid of specialised tools
or expertise. |
|
Product Custodianship |
The CSA Pty Ltd stewardship policy
indicates that the company will quote to remove products with no
extra charge to the customer for processing or disposal. |
|
Coatings / treatments |
No coatings or treatments are used
that would interfere with the post consumer recycling of the
certified products. |
|
Replacement Parts |
Functionally compatible parts will
be quoted on a supply basis and are available at the current
market price for a period of five years. |
|
Packaging Requirements |
The LLDPE plastic film used is
recyclable in mainstream resource recovery facilities. The
blankets used to avoid scratching during transport are
continually reused by the CSA Pty Ltd delivery crew. |

Product Information |
The warranty documentation states
the correct use and maintenance for the certified products and
disposal options for the customer at product end of life. The
point of sale documentation contains information sufficient to
satisfy the requirements of this criterion. |

Conformance to Environmental and
Social Regulations |
GECS has received sufficient
evidence to establish that CSA Pty Ltd, manufacturer of the
certified Sustainable Solutions range of furniture, is compliant
with all relevant environmental, labour, anti-discrimination and
safety regulations and has not been subject of prosecutions
resulting in a guilty verdict in a court of law during the past
24 months. |
