1.
Description of the
Technology.
Corporate Culture was in
2000 to provide outstanding furniture service and
solutions to the architectural and design community.
By offering something in
addition to the fulfilment of functional requirements,
Corporate Culture establishes a range of furniture that
add to the quality of working life for both the
individual and the organisation.
2. The Products
Smooth
and Figure table range.
The
Figure table
is a unique aesthetic element with
complete versatility for table widths, lengths and
shapes. The base provides a consistent and fully
integrated solution for conference tables, casual
meeting tables, executive desks and general purpose work
tables. The Figure provides abundant room for the user
to ensure correct ergonomic comfort. The legs can be
positioned at any location along the concealed support
beam, allowing endless design scope to compliment the
surrounding environment.
The
Figure and Smooth products are both manufactured by
Thinking Ergonomics and marketed with a lifetime
warranty. At the manufacturing stage products
undergo quality assurance before release to the market.

Sources
Wood and other natural materials from sources that are not
certified under a recognised certification scheme (e.g. FSC or
AFS) as being sustainable managed shall not originate from:

Genetically modified organisms, Uncertified high
conservation value communities.

The table range under assessment is available with an MDF or EO
particleboard top, finished with the range of GECA certified
laminates or veneers. The timber components of the product are
already certified by GECA and therefore satisfy the requirements
of this criterion. |
Treatment
Wood and natural materials used in furniture and
fittings products may not be treated with fungicides and
insecticides that are classified due to their hazardous nature
by the ICAC as type 1a and Type 1b for storage and/or
transportation. Refer

The timber components of the product range are certified by GECA,
they therefore comply with the requirements of this criterion. |
Resin
Identification Codes
To be licensed to carry the Label, appropriate
plastics resin identification code promulgated by the Plastics
and Chemical Industry Association must be marked on each
individual recycled plastic products or components weighing
greater than 100g.

The products are available with an option of a folding top, this
product includes a plastic part that is heavier then 100g.
During a site assessment a GECA qualified assessor witnessed the
appropriate use of the resin code on these components. All
relevant plastic parts are market in conformance to the
requirements of this criterion. |

Hazardous
Materials
In order to promote the reduction of pollutant
hazards in the disposal, landfill and/or incineration of end of
life furniture, the following substances shall not be added to
eco-labeled furniture during the production process:
Arsenic
Cadmium
Chromium
Copper
Lead
Mercury
Fluorine
Chlorine
Pentachlorophenol (PCP)
Tar oils (benzo(a)pyrene)

The only product ingredient of concern in relation to this
criterion is powder coatings. GECA inspected MSDS for powder the
coating and found this product is in compliance to the
requirements of this criterion. The two contracted powder
coating operations do not use solvents for cleaning. No other
substances or finishes are applied to the nominated product
range. In addition, a statement by the Managing Director,
Thinking Ergonomics states the substances listed in this
criterion are not added to the products during manufacturing. |

Prohibited Substances
Furniture or fittings shall not contain carcinogenic substances
in categories 1, 2A as classed by the International Agency for
Research on Cancer –

The only product ingredient of concern in relation to this
criterion is powder coatings, no other substances or finishes
are applied to the nominated product range. In addition a
statement by the Managing Director, Thinking Ergonomics states
no substances are used in the products manufacturing that are in
conflict with the requirements of this criterion. |

Separability
The eco-labeled product shall be easily
disassembled making possible the recovery and recycling of
materials used.
In order to facilitate recycling of the materials used in
products, the following materials have to be easily separated:
. Aluminium, if it composes ≥ 5% by weight of the
eco-labelled product;
. Steel, if it composes ≥ 10% by weight of the eco-labelled
product;
. Glass, if it composes ≥ 10% by weight of the eco-labelled
product;

Plastic, if it composes ≥ 20% by weight of the
eco-labelled product. |
The table range under assessment is mechanically fixed, there is
no barrier to the disassembly of the product range. This was
witnessed by a GECA qualified assessor during a site assessment. |

Product Custodianship
The applicant shall accept their product without additional cost
(not including transportation costs) for further recycling, or
have arrangements with an Australian
plastics
or steel recycler
to accept the product, or have an established product
stewardship program. |
The manufacturer offers a take back arrangement to the market.
Products are to be returned to Thinking Ergonomics under the
terms of the policy. Thinking Egronomics have engaged the
services of plastic, metal and cardboard recyclers. |

3.4.3 Coatings/Treatments
Furniture and fittings products (or components) must not be
impregnated, labelled, coated or otherwise treated in a manner
which would prevent post consumer recycling. Exemption may be
made for products with a long product life where a coating or
treatment would further extend the useful life of the product.

No treatment is applied to the Smooth and Figure product ranges
that will prevent recycling. This was witnessed during a site
assessment. |
|
Replacement Parts
For those parts of a product which are subject to wear, e.g.
hinges, locks, table leaves, functionally compatible
replacements shall be guaranteed for a period of at least five
years. |
Replacement parts are available for the products under
assessment as part of the standard product warranty. |

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the range to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations.
