Description of the
Technology.
Castle Chemicals participates in end-user interaction as they provide delivery and restocking of cleaning products and equipment service to the local area.
Castle Post Harvest was incorporated in 1972 specifically to provide technical and manufacturing skills in the handling of fruit after harvest. Castle Post Harvest produces coatings for post harvest use on citrus, pome fruit, stone fruit, tropical fruits and vegetables.
Castle Post Harvest also produce a range of cleaners, degreasers, CIP Cleaners, sanitizers and hand care products designed for food processors.

Fitness for Purpose |
Internal testing was conducted
using guidance from ISO 4189 – 1984 Standard for Surface
Active Ingredients – Detergents for Hand Dishwashing – Guide
for comparative testing for performance. Comparisons were made
on performance between Green-Pro Supergreen and its commercially
accepted predecessor “Supergreen” and also entry level and
market leading competitor products. It was observed that
Green-Pro Supergreen has superior performance compared to entry
level competitor product and its predecessor “Supergreen”.
Performance was generally equivalent to that of the market
leading competitor product.
Castle Chemicals have adopted
and maintain a Quality Management System in accordance with AS/NZS
ISO 9001:2000. |

Formulation Requirements |
The Green-Pro Supergreen product
does not contain any of the substances restricted by this
criterion in the standard. The formulation is readily
biodegradable and was designed to be so. The selection of raw
materials during the development of this product avoided
environmentally contaminating and health risk substances. |

Surfactants |
The surfactants meet the
requirements of biodegradability in order to achieve a
classification of “Readily Degradable” according to OECD
method 301 guidelines. This classification is equivalent to
AS4351 “ready biodegradability” rating. |

Fragrance |
The fragrance used in the
Green-Pro Supergreen product is used in accordance with the “Code
of Practice” compiled by the International Fragrance
Association (IFRA). |

Colours |
The colorants used are included in
the “List of Colouring Agents Allowed for Use in Cosmetic
Products”. They fall in category 1 that allows the colouring
agents to be used in all cosmetic products. |

Consumer Information |
The label for Green-Pro Supergreen
includes all the relevant information regarding proper use and
waste minimisation. The ingredients list complies with the EEC
Commission Recommendation for Labelling of Detergents and
Cleaning Products |

Packaging Requirements |
The certified Castle Chemicals Pty
Ltd Green-Pro Supergreen product uses a High Density
Polyethylene (HDPE) bottle and a Polypropylene (PP) cap. Both
the bottle and the cap have relevant resin identification codes
stamped on them. |

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the Castle Chemicals range to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations.
