Technology.
To ensure that a high standard of product reaches the customer Burgtec has accreditation to EN
ISO9001:2008 and AS/NZS ISO9001:2008 for Quality Management
System.

Fit for Purpose |
Burgtec has accreditation to EN
ISO9001:2008 and AS/NZS ISO9001:2008 for quality management
systems governing the manufacture of the nominated products. In
addition Burgtec offers a five year warranty for the certified
products. |

Timber and Other Natural Materials |
GECS has received evidence of the
timber supply chain and species of the timbers used in the
production. The evidence shows that the timbers do not come from
controversial sources and meet the requirements of the
corresponding criterion in the Standard. |

Treatment |
Burgtec sources its timber from
within Australia from certified suppliers meaning treatment of
this timber is unnecessary. |
|
Air Emissions |
Burgtec has stated in the
environmental policy and Environmental Assurance has confirmed
that the company sources processed timber components from
previously certified suppliers that meet the requirements of
this criterion. |

Resin Identification Codes |
These nominated Burgtec products
do not contain any plastic components that have a mass of over
100g and therefore this criterion is not applicable. |

Padding Material |
These nominated Burgtec products
do not contain any padding material and therefore are not
applicable under this criterion. |

Fabrics |
Burgtec is upholstering its
furniture and fittings in only GECA certified fabrics or fabrics
which have been assessed as part of this assessment and found to
not compromise the ability of the furniture and fittings to meet
the requirements of the GECA 28-2006 (Furniture and Fittings)
Standard. This ensures that the fabrics applied to the furniture
and fittings will comply with all requirements of GECA 28-2006
(Furniture and Fittings) Standard, including those sections that
apply regardless of the weight of the fabrics. |

Glass |
One of the nominated Burgtec
products contains thermally toughened glass which does not
contain any prohibited chemicals, colouring agents or additives. |

Adhesives |
Burgtec uses compliant adhesives
that are low in VOC’s and do not contain any of the listed
hazardous substances as stated in the standard. |
|
Hazardous Materials |
GECS has confirmed that Burgtec
does not use any of the listed hazardous or prohibited
substances as stated in this section of the GECA 28-2006
Furniture and Fittings standard. |

Separability |
GECS has confirmed that these
Burtec products are separable into constituent materials without
the use of specialized tools or expertise in conformance with
this criterion. |
|
Product Custodianship |
Burgtec accepts ownership of the
certified products at their end of life for recycling. They can
be returned at no additional cost to the consumer apart from
transportation. |
|
Coatings/Treatments |
The certified Burgtec products are
not coated or treated in any way that would prevent post
consumer recycling. |
|
Replacement Parts |
Burgtec has replacement parts
available for these products for at least five years as stated
in the company literature. |
|
Packaging Requirements |
Burgtec packages their products in
cardboard and plastic that is not chlorinated or halogenated and
is recyclable. |

Product Information |
Burgtec supplies customers with
product information clearly stating instructions for correct
use, maintenance and recycling. |

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the Burgtec range to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations in the past 24
months.
