     1.   Description of the Technology.

Baseline Commercial Furniture has a factory (trading under Plan System Australia) that has been operating for over 25 years as an Australian manufacturer and supplier of commercial furniture which includes workstations, storage, seating, executive and boardroom furniture.

The manufacturer is committed to eliminating environmental impacts, adopting new and sustainable business models, reevaluating its products and processes.

The workstations (Linea, Alti, Summit 50, Float) are manufactured at 3800m2 facility in West Sunshine Victoria and currently employs 32 staff.

Core Environmental Performance Characteristics
Fitness for Purpose Baseline commercial furniture has been certified with the Blue Tick Product Certification by AFRDI based on AS/NZS 4443:1997. In addition these products are covered with a 10 year warranty.
Material Requirements Baseline uses wood materials certified under the Environmental Choice Australia Eco- Label for the manufacturing of the nominated workstations.
Padding Materials Baseline does not use latex in the nominated products. Where specified polyurethane padding sourced is certified under the Environmental Choice Australia Eco-Label.
Fabrics The manufacturer has acknowledged and the license conditions stipulate that only fabrics assessed according to the relevant Environmental Choice Australia Standard requirements can be used in certified furniture. This includes textiles certified as compliant to the Environmental Choice Australia Mark, Nordic Swan, EU Flower, or those that have been assessed in the scope of this assessment and found to be in conformance with the relevant criteria in the GECA Furniture and Fittings Standard.
Glass Baseline can use only clear float glass when specified in certified furniture.
Adhesives The adhesives used by Baseline are compliant with the relevant requirements of the GECA Standards, which include the requirements for a low VOC content.
Hazardous Materials It has been verified that Baseline does not use or add any of the listed hazardous materials or prohibited substances during the manufacturing of the nominated products.
Post Consumption Recycling and Labelling Baseline products can be disassembled without specialized tools or expertise to facilitate the recovery of the constituent materials for recycling.
Product Custodianship Baseline Commercial Furniture offers a take back policy whereby they buy back furniture at a set rate. They either re-use or recycle the parts depending on the state of the returned products.
Coatings and Treatment The nominated Baseline Commercial Furniture products are not coated or treated in a way that would prevent recycling.
Replacement Parts Baseline has a standard 10 year warranty and replacement parts policy in place.
Packaging Requirements Baseline uses recyclable plastic and cardboard for the packaging of these nominated products and has a contract with a local recycler for the processing of this material. The plastic packaging is not halogenated.

        3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:

 

GECA also found the Baseline range to be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour, Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety regulations and environmental regulations in the past 24 months.
