Description of the
Technology.
Australian Workstation Manufacturers Pty Ltd was formed in 1993, operating as a small furniture company located in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The company has since expanded to be listed as one of BRW’s fastest growing companies in 2008. AWM’s head office and factory is now based in a 5000 square metre facility in Alexandria with a connecting showroom displaying their latest products and prototypes.

Manufacturers’ products have been tested and approved by AFRDI
and come with a 10 year warranty. |

Material Requirements |
The F2, F3 and F5 workstations are
manufactured using Environmental Choice Australia Eco-label
certified processed wood products. |

Air Emissions |
These products have been tested to
AS/NZS 4266.16.2004 standards which show that the formaldehyde
emissions from the wood based components are well below the
allowable limit. |

Resin Identification Codes |
These AWM products have been
assessed against the requirements of this criterion and it has
been concluded that these products meet the requirements in the
GECA Furniture and Fittings Standard. |

Padding Materials |
These nominated products contain
no padding materials. No latex or Polyurethane padding is used
in the manufacturing of these products. |
|
Fabrics |
The manufacturer has acknowledged
and the license conditions stipulate that only fabrics assessed
according to the relevant Environmental Choice Australia
Standard requirements can be used in certified furniture. This
includes textiles certified as compliant to the Environmental
Choice Australia Mark, Nordic Swan, EU Flower, or those that
have been assessed in the scope of this assessment and found to
be in conformance with the relevant criteria in the GECA
Furniture and Fittings Standard. |

Glass |
Australian Workstation
Manufacturers use toughened glass in these certified products,
which does not use non-conforming treatments listed in this
criterion in the standard. |

Adhesives |
This manufacturer uses a water
based adhesive that is low in VOC’s. This adhesive conforms to
the relevant requirements of the GECA Adhesives Standard. |
|
Hazardous Materials |
GECS has confirmed that AWM does
not use any of the listed prohibited or hazardous substances as
stated in the standard for this criterion. |

Separability |
GECS has confirmed that these AWM
products are separable into constituent materials without the
use of specialised tools or expertise. |
|
Product Custodianship |
AWM accepts ownership of these
certified products at the end of their life. They can be
returned for recycling at no additional cost to the consumer
apart from transportation. |

Coatings/Treatments |
These products are not coated or
treated in any way that would prevent post consumer recycling. |
|
Replacement Parts |
Replacement parts are available as
part of the standard 10 year warranty. |
|
Packaging Requirements |
AWM’s products are packaged in
cardboard and plastic that is not halogenated or chlorinated.
This packaging is recyclable in mainstream resource recovery
facilities. |

information regarding the intended use of these products in
association with the product custodianship policy confirms AWM
satisfies the requirements of this criterion. |

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the AWM range to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations in the past 24
months.
