Description of the
Technology.
Advanta Commercial Furniture is a privately-owned company specialising in designing and manufacturing commercial seating solutions. Established in the mid 80s, Advanta is an Australian based company, located in Western Australia. Advanta’s products offer a wide range of products for furnishing corporate offices large and small as well as training and conference facilities, boardrooms and mass seating areas. The manufacturing facilities used to produce these products have implemented Quality Management Systems that meets the ISO 9001 standard.

Fitness for Purpose |
Many of the nominated products
have been tested and certified by AFRDI. The production facility
is certified for a Quality Management System based on ISO 9001
standards. A five year warranty is offered for all certified
Advanta products. |

Wood and Natural Materials |
Advanta has provided chain of
custody documentation for all of their timber sources. |

Treatment |
Advanta has provided a fumigation
certificate for the timber sources and the treatment is carried
out in accordance with Australian Standards (AQIS). |

Air Emissions |
The timber sources emit less than
the limit set for formaldehyde emissions. |
|
Resin Identification Codes |
Resin Identification codes are
stamped on plastic components over 100g. |
|
Polyurethane Padding Requirements |
No banned additives are used
during production. Organic tin catalysts are not evident in the
polyurethane padding material used for the production of the
nominated chairs. |

Fabrics |
The manufacturer has acknowledged
and the license conditions stipulate that only fabrics assessed
according to the relevant Environmental Choice Australia
Standard requirements can be used in certified furniture. This
includes textiles certified as compliant to the Environmental
Choice Australia Mark, Nordic Swan, EU Flower, or those that
have been assessed in the scope of this assessment and found to
be in conformance with the relevant criteria in the GECA
Furniture and Fittings Standard. |

Adhesives |
A water based low VOC adhesive is
used to manufacture the certified Advanta products. The adhesive
does not contain any hazardous substance s as classified under
the hazardous materials criterion. |

Overall Loads |
A GECS review of the materials
used in the certified Advanta products has uncovered no
hazardous materials listed for this criterion. |
|
Prohibited Substances |
None of the listed prohibited
substances are used in the manufacture of the certified Advanta
products. |
|
Separability |
Advanta has demonstrated that the
products are sufficiently separable into constituent materials
without the use of specialised tools or expertise. |
|
Product Custodianship |
Advanta has in place a product
stewardship program. Customers organize transportation of the
product to the Advanta manufacturing facility; the products are
then either reused or recycled in Australia. |

Coatings and Treatments |
These products are not coated or
treated in any way that would prevent post consumer recycling. |
|
Replacement Parts |
The replacement parts policy
states an availability period of five years. |
|
Packaging Requirements |
These products are transported
with recyclable cardboard boxes and plastic. The plastic is not
halogenated or chlorinated. |

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the Advanta range to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations.
