A free invitation for government procurement officials
Green Procurement in Government is being encouraged by Executive Government for all Commonwealth Government agencies. This policy direction is a major commitment to ensuring that all government purchasing translates into effective market incentives and support for the supply of products and services with a lower environmental impact to governments.
The Australian Government has indicated that it aims to be at the forefront in environmental purchasing practice through:
· buying goods and services that seek to minimise possible environmental impacts;
· working with industry to encourage continuous reduction in the adverse environmental impact of goods and services; and
· assessing the environmental impact of goods and services against informed and internationally recognised standards and methods.
Good Environmental Choice Australia Ltd as a non profit public company delivers the national Good Environmental Choice Label and is leading the debate and work in enabling effective market differentiation of environmentally preferable products in Australia. As the national life cycle environmental impact certification body for consumer and building products the organisation is dedicated to facilitating government environmental purchasing and effective policy implementation. GECA in association with Australian Paper and Fuji Xerox Printing Australia held a luncheon to facilitate greater understanding of the issue and pathways forward for government procurement officials. Below are the presentation on the day.
