About

This free online resource has been created to support green purchasing by green purchasing officers, corporate buyers and everyday Australians. It seeks to provide a comprehensive listing of everyday products used in the work or home environment from the perspective of their general environmental impact. The database is maintained by the Australian Green Purchasing Network - a program of Good Environmental Choice - Australia a non-profit environmental research and certification body in Canberra, Australia. Good Environmental Choice - Australia also delivers Australia's life cycle based ecolabel for a wide spectrum of consumer and building products as a third party verifier of environmental performance of these products in conformance to internationally recognised standards.

The environmental performance of products and services is often very hard to work out for most consumers. Unfortunately in the current markets this information is not very well presented or often ignored by manufacturers when they present their products for purchase. However with the help of this database and supporting material you should be able to work out what are the main environmental loads of a product, how different products compare and also find the direct route to the manufacturer for more information or purchase.

This website is an initiative of the Australian Green Procurement Network as a showcase of products and services available in Australia, along with meaningful and quantifiable evaluation of their environmental performance.
