   1.   Description of the Technology.

 

Established since 1920, Solver Paint is made in Australia for Australian conditions and the products include interior/exterior paints, varnishes, lacquers, and special purpose protective coatings for a wide range of private, corporate and public building applications. 

 

Solver Paints Pty Ltd has always tried to provide its customer the best quality paint and now have come through, for the premium interior paint market, with Solver Enviroguard - water based paint  which has  99.7% volatile organic compound (VOC) - free chemical formulation.

 

After a comprehensive assessment undertaken by GECA a selection of Solver Enviroguard interior paints has been awarded an  Australian Good Environmental Choice Licence.

 

 

   2.   The Products

Please be aware that the Good Environmental Choice certification relates only to the base coating.

Environmental Requirements Performance Characteristics

VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) Content must not exceed 16 g/L

Products contain less than 1g/L of VOC’s

Titanium Dioxide Content must not exceed 32g/m2 of dry film

Products do not exceed allowable limit

Must not contain Glycol Ethers (ethylene-glycol, ethylene-acetate etc)

Products do not contain Glycol Ethers

Must not contain Heavy Metals (Lead, Cadmium etc)

Products do not contain any Heavy Metals

Recyclable Packaging

All forms of product packaging can be recycled

Carcinogenic Substances Content (must not exceed 1/20th of NOHSC limit)

No other known carcinogens except silica (respirable carcinogen). No exposure to silica during the use of relevant products – potential exposure only during product removal via airborne silica, which can be avoided through the use of appropriate safety-ware and face-masks

Prohibited Substances (APEO’s)

Products do not contain alkyl phenol alkoxylates (APEO’s)

Use of Ozone-Depleting Substances

Products and their solvents and/or cleaning agents do not contain Ozone-Depleting Substances

Hydrocarbon Solvents Content (maximum of 20% of product dry-weight)

Products do not exceed allowable limit

    3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations

 

 

The Solver Paints Pty Ltd manufacturing plant in Kilburn, South Australia conforms to state EPA requirements for emissions (Licence No EPA 1088 and Schedule: Expiry 31 October 2006). The Kilburn site has demonstrated compliance to the terms of this licence. No breaches of local environmental regulations have been found by GECA in its assessment of the Kilburn site or have any been submitted by the manufacturer. Solver Paints Pty Ltd also complies with all relevant social regulations, including occupational health and safety, employee remuneration and anti-discrimination.
