GECA and NRTB MOU |
GECA has signed a
Memorandum of Understanding with the
National Refrigerants Transition Board to
promote the uptake of natural refrigerants
in the Australian commercial sector.
The purpose of this
agreement is to increase the public
recognition of and the commercial uptake of
natural refrigerants in a wide range of
commercial applications. The first area of
particular focus in the supermarket
refrigeration sector. The MOU aims to:
1. Develop a GECA
voluntary environmental labelling standard
considering the diverse environmental loads
of commercial refrigeration including
equipment types and designs, components,
installation and refrigerants.
2. To increase the
updake of natural refrigerants through
consumer recognition and public demand for
GECA certified installations and suitable
components.
3. Develop further
standards as the program develops and market
uptake leads associated industries to
transfer their equipment to natural
refrigerants.

GECA and NRTB share the
common goal of reducing both greenhouse gas
and ozone depleting substance release from
current refrigerants in the Australian
market. Substantial environmental damage can
be reduced by the simple conversion process.
